Food Technologist

This position offers a wonderful opportunity to join the dynamic Babylonstoren team to assist in expanding our food product offering. The ideal candidate is solution-oriented with experience in fresh and long-life foods, supplier management, food safety, and food quality assurance processes. The successful candidate must possess leadership qualities, be able to work in a cross-functional team, and take ownership of the position’s responsibilities. Requirements
  • BSc Food Science or BTech Food Technology degree with 8-10 years’ experience (retail experience advantageous)
  • Proven relevant industry experience and knowledge across a wide range of products
  • Understanding of high- and low-risk food processing and segregation
  • Knowledge of cold chain management and critical control points
  • Practical experience in food preparation stages and processes
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, root cause analysis, supply chain, raw materials, micro and listeria management
  • Technical product knowledge: characteristics, sourcing, manufacturing, quality, safety
  • Understanding packaging functionality and application
  • Environmental management and sustainability knowledge

  • Coordinate with buying team, suppliers, production, and the Farm Shop
  • Influence supply chain aspects to optimize quality and safety
  • Lead product and process audits, formulate specifications
  • Monitor and report on quality
  • Contribute to category, technical, and supplier strategies
  • Develop compliant packaging with correct nutritional info and date coding
  • Source and approve raw materials, manage allergen guidelines
  • Conduct shelf-life assessments and implement improvements
  • Ensure production efficiencies and quality management
  • Source and approve raw materials per specifications
  • Address quality issues and perform root cause analyses
  • Uphold international manufacturing standards with advanced technology
