mselect is looking to hire a Senior Director, Head of Finance Southeast Africa (SEA) for an international fintech client based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

  • Fluency in English is mandatory.
Job Purpose

Reporting to the CEMEA Chief Financial Officer and SEA Group Country Manager, the Senior Director, Head of Finance SEA, will ensure financial discipline, business decision support, and accountability within the region.

Responsibilities
  1. Oversee financial planning and analysis, management reporting, consolidation, and strategic planning.
  2. Enhance processes, drive efficiency, and balance risk mitigation with operational efficiency.
  3. Support short-term financial targets and long-term growth as a key advisor to the Group Country Manager.
  4. Lead business planning, budgeting, and forecasting for revenues, client incentives, and operating expenses.
  5. Coordinate inputs from regional, global, and functional teams, leading review processes.
  6. Manage the annual budget plan and long-term strategic plan.
  7. Communicate business implications from analysis and monitor trends.
  8. Produce materials for executive review with clarity and accuracy.
  9. Provide leadership in revenue management and decision support analytics.
  10. Engage with function heads to develop domain expertise and drive revenue improvement.
  11. Manage project management, scorecard planning, tracking, and reporting.
  12. Partner with the CEMEA head of Pricing and Interchange on pricing proposals.
  13. Simplify complex issues and structure analysis to answer business questions.
  14. Lead a team of analysts in reporting financial results and identifying risks and opportunities.
  15. Manage the Opex budget and headcount.
  16. Execute revenue variance analysis and perform monthly close variance analysis.
  17. Support budget target setting and communicate guidelines to sub-regions/entities.
  18. Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with company goals.
  19. Identify, assess, and manage financial risks to ensure stability.
  20. Drive operational efficiency through process improvements.
  21. Lead and develop the finance team, providing mentorship.
  22. Oversee financial aspects of mergers, acquisitions, and strategic transactions.
  23. Leverage technology and innovation to enhance financial processes.
Requirements
  • Mastery in finance, financial reporting & analysis, revenue forecasting, and financial modeling.
  • Experience in the electronic payments industry; fintech knowledge and revenue streams preferred.
  • Minimum 13 years of work experience; consultancy experience highly appreciated.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to influence peers and teams.
  • Ability to handle ad-hoc requests promptly and accurately.
  • Postgraduate degree in finance and accounting, MBA preferred.
  • Knowledge of TM1 and Hyperion desired.
  • Practical knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
