About Ports Solutions
This division provides service solutions and maintenance for all crane brands, port equipment, and machine tools, including repair, maintenance, refurbishment, modernization, installation, testing, and certification of harbor cranes and hoists.
We are the original service provider for both Konecranes and Demag equipment.
Current Opportunity : Service Technician – Pinetown
Based in our Ports Solutions division, the Service Technician will execute inspections, repairs, modernizations, and installations on harbor cranes and related equipment, excluding those requiring compliance inspection by an accredited person.
Responsibilities include :
Installing, inspecting, repairing, servicing, and upgrading equipment as instructed.
Performing scheduled maintenance to ensure reliable operation.
Maintaining accurate service records for performance monitoring.
Acting as the primary contact with customers, reporting faults, and making recommendations.
Generating sales leads and providing quotes through daily interactions.
Ensuring timely and accurate documentation of reports, timesheets, and orders.
Communicating equipment issues or potential improvements promptly.
Maintaining safety files and complying with safety procedures and regulations.
Participating in health and safety programs and assessments.
Supporting quality system procedures and internal audits.
Reporting hazards, incidents, and injuries as per legislation and company policy.
Executing functions within delegated authority and performing other tasks as assigned.
Candidate Requirements :
Qualifications :
Grade 12 (NQF level 4) or related trade qualification
Valid driver's license
Skills & Knowledge :
3-5 years of experience in a similar environment
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical data
Experience with hand tools and trade tools
Experience with harbor cranes, inverter drives, and PLCs
Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and at heights
Willingness to travel locally and internationally
Proficiency in MS Office applications
Customer-focused, responsible, and proactive in decision-making
Strong team spirit and self-motivation
