Job Title: BIM Specialist

Our client based in Isando, Johannesburg, is seeking a BIM Specialist to join their team. The purpose of the role is to oversee the successful implementation of Building Information Modelling (BIM) processes for the company's operational facilities.

The Specialist will assist the Senior BIM, Drawing Office, and Technical Standards Manager (multi-role) "BDOTS."

Main Responsibilities

1. Develop, publish, and implement BIM standards, protocols, and processes based on best practices.
2. Establish company-specific drawing naming conventions aligned with ISO standards and manage a centralized drawing repository for all facilities, including historical, new, and operational projects.
3. Train team members and stakeholders in BIM use, standards, and best practices.
4. Ensure models and design data conform to company BIM standards through review, coordination, and verification.
5. Manage BIM Digital Twins, including live models and data sets from handovers.
6. Facilitate collaboration among colleagues, external consultants, and clients to resolve technical issues and maintain data integrity.
7. Work with internal teams and external architects to ensure as-built data fidelity for existing facilities.
8. Coordinate with Document Controllers for data migration between BIM environment and SharePoint Hub.
9. Establish processes to ensure BIM best practices and policies are followed across departments.
10. Develop effective BIM workflows for collaborative work between various departments.
11. Evaluate and implement new BIM tools and technologies for continuous improvement.
12. Assist in achieving and maintaining ISO certification for BIM within the organization.
13. Monitor and report on BIM process performance to aid continuous development.
14. Ensure BIM best practices are propagated to supply chain vendors.
15. Support the Drawing Office in architectural design and coordination when needed, especially in urgent situations.

• Proven experience in main functions of the role and strong knowledge of BIM standards and protocols.
• Understanding of linking models from various sources and stakeholders.
• Leadership and project management skills for BIM systems.
• High attention to detail, good communication, and technical skills.
• Active listening, proactive problem-solving, and ability to work independently and in teams.
• Minimum qualifications: B.Tech in Architectural Technology or equivalent, Autodesk CAD certification, with at least 5 years' experience in Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and BIM.
• Management experience of 2-3 years, with familiarity with international BIM best practices.
