Introduction
The purpose of the role is to ensure that project-related assets and costs are recorded accurately, validly, and completely. It must be performed in a timely manner in accordance with accounting best practices and JSE policies.
Responsibilities :
- Communicates financial performance to program managers and project executives.
- Reviews and identifies cost-reduction opportunities to reduce JSE business costs impacting strategy.
- Manages the financial aspects of specific projects, ensuring budgets are adhered to, costs are accurately tracked, and financial reports are prepared, while providing financial advice to the project team.
- Maintains and develops relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders by sharing information and providing customer service to ensure queries are addressed promptly.
- Builds relationships with colleagues, peers, and staff using appropriate interpersonal styles.
- Interacts in a way that promotes openness and trust, giving confidence in one's intentions.
- Acts as the primary contact for managing and coordinating queries and resolving concerns of external and internal auditors regarding the JSE Group.
- Provides business partnering and support to teams, including technical finance assistance and participation in monthly meetings.
- Ensures accuracy and disclosures in statutory reporting to prevent material audit findings impacting JSE's strategy, in line with standards and regulations.
- Provides regular analysis of reports to internal stakeholders, communicating effectively to meet their requirements.
- Implements financial process system controls through development of financial targets and automation to minimize risks.
- Adheres to accounting policies and procedures, maintaining documented systems.
- Performs back-office functions, supports, and reconciliations.
- Provides absence cover within the finance team to ensure service continuity.
- Analyzes actual data within accounting records to ensure completeness, accuracy, and validity of financial statements.
- Supports the Financial Manager during project and statutory audits.
- Supports the Project Office in preparing project financials aligned with approved budgets and project progress.
- Ensures accruals and vendor invoices are communicated at month-end for accruals to be raised.
- Reviews and posts monthly accruals, journal reallocations, and reconciliations.
- Signs off on balance sheet reconciliations for work in progress, clearing accounts, and capitalized projects.
- Manages own deliverables, identifies obstacles, and takes appropriate actions.
- Contributes to the formalization of the Finance Department's divisional budget and assists in its coordination and consolidation.
- Ensures the accuracy of SOPs and RACMs for audit review.
Qualifications and Experience :
3-5 years in a contract management function or similar responsibilities with a good understanding of processes.
