Operations Support & Safety Officer - Contract

Our client is searching for an Operations Support & Safety Officer - Contract to join their team in Johannesburg.

Responsible on a daily basis for:

  1. Ensuring workplace safety
  2. Providing operational support

Essential Functions:

  1. Support the development of OHS policies and programs
  2. Provide security advisory and instruct on various safety-related topics
  3. Conduct periodic risk assessments and enforce preventative measures
  4. Conduct Residential Security Audits (if required)
  5. Initiate and organize OHS workshops and safety coordination meetings
  6. Inspect premises and the work of personnel to identify issues or non-conformity
  7. Stop any unsafe acts or practices that seem dangerous or unhealthy
  8. Prepare reports on occurrences and provide statistical information
  9. Maintaining and keeping records of PPE stock
  10. Provide CPO/Driver support
  11. Responsible for the maintenance and safety of all company vehicles
  12. Maintain regular records and keep up-to-date PSAMS supplier accounts and recon
  13. Provide admin and front office support
  14. Performs other duties as required

Required Education and Experience:

High School Diploma
Three (3) years of related working experience.
Fluent in English
Proven experience as a safety officer
Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices
Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
Diligent with great attention to detail
Familiar with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions. Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Understanding airport and event safety protocols is crucial.

Work Environment:

This job operates in or out of the office, some physical checks and assistance with physical logistics operations should be outdoors, and some admin and paperwork should be done indoors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, and ladders talk, hear, and see. Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects during the workday.

The Organization promotes a drug/alcohol-free work environment through the use of mandatory pre-employment drug testing and ongoing random drug testing.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a contract, Monday through Friday. Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
