Job description

Introduction

• BSc Honours with 4 years experience in microbiology, haematology, or clinical chemistry. Relevant HPSCA registration. ISO15189 experience. European passport holder.

Description : A medical testing laboratory requires a Medical Scientist to join their team. Key duties will include:

1. Assist in providing a high-quality clinical diagnostic service for patients.
2. Provide timely analysis of patient laboratory results.
3. Assist in the authorization and reporting process for laboratory reports and support the clinical team in communicating relevant results to service users.
4. Liaise with colleagues to exploit new technology, participate in method development, and implement new techniques.
5. Support technological advancements and assist in their implementation and operation.
6. Design, verify, and validate new laboratory methods.
7. Ensure appropriate and prompt handling and analysis of all human specimens.
8. Participate in writing standard operating procedures.
9. Report any safety-related defects to the supervisor.
10. Maintain confidentiality of information obtained during duties.
11. Supervise junior laboratory staff.
12. Participate in annual reviews and adhere to company policies.
13. Engage in continuing professional development (CPD).
14. Provide training and educational opportunities for laboratory staff.
15. Comply with Health and Safety requirements.

Requirements : BSc Honours with at least 4 years experience in microbiology, haematology, or clinical chemistry. Previous experience in a clinical diagnostic or research laboratory is required. HPSCA registration as Medical Scientist, Biomedical Scientist, Clinical Biochemist, Clinical Scientist, or equivalent is essential. ISO15189 experience is advantageous. European passport holder.

Additional Requirements: Fluent in written and spoken English. Strong interpersonal skills. Attention to details.
