Job Summary

The applicant will be responsible for assessing the creditworthiness of individuals and/or businesses that require lending products within the Private Wealth Banking segment. The role requires the ability to interpret financial information, assess client desirability, and detail risk mitigation strategies in line with credit mandates, internal policies and regulatory requirements.
A key focus of the role is to deliver high-quality credit risk assessments to ensure sustainable profit and asset growth, within the agreed Operational Level Agreement (OLA). This position requires a strong analytical mindset, in-depth knowledge of credit principles, strong decision-making skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both internal stakeholders and clients.

Job Description

Credit Sanctioning

  • Apply credit a credit roadmap to assess and analyse credit applications to determine eligibility and risk within the credit risk management regulatory framework, guidelines, policies and procedures.
  • Review and interpret financial information including business financial statement with an in-depth understand of financial ratios relevant for lending.
  • Assess industry and business risks, introducing risk mitigating measures.
  • Make recommendations on lending outside mandate or policy to higher mandated approval bodies.
  • Ensure all credit assessments comply with banking regulations with emphasis on NCAA compliance as well as internal credit guidelines and policies.
  • Provide guidance on deal structures and assessments
  • Prepare detailed credit reports and present findings to credit committees or senior management.
  • Proactive portfolio risk management to identify high risk trends and industries
  • Perform quality credit sanctioning within the Operational Level Agreement (OLA), being cognizant of risks, solutions-driven and giving due consideration to compliance requirements.

Stakeholder Management

  • Manage, Develop and maintain excellent relations within own area of responsibility.
  • Support Business and SBU’s to address gaps in skills through training engagements
  • Attend Sales meetings with related SBU’s.
  • Be a role model for client engagement and demonstrate value add.
  • Engage in productive deal making debate with stakeholders
  • Manage deliverables and expectations with relevant stakeholders

Risk and Control

  • Apply the highest standards of controls and risk management practices and behaviours and embed a positive risk and control culture.
  • Adhere to policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Identify, assess and report risks arising from significant events, investigations, audit and control issues.
  • Demonstrate prudence, sound judgment and appropriate escalations in the management of all types of risk applicable to the role.

Qualifications

  • BCom (Accounting, Finance, Risk)
  • Preference to related post graduate degree
  • Must have previous Credit Sanctioning experience

Bachelor`s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas: Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
