IT Business Analyst III (API/Systems Analysis)

Job Summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a passion for understanding, documenting, and communicating requirements, who will be the link between the business objectives and requirements for our backend systems and processes.

The backend space requires a keen desire to understand our integration layers and their dependencies, working closely with APIs, End Points, webservices, databases and payloads.

Our ideal candidate is highly autonomous, very detail oriented, possesses strong written and verbal communication skills, and is passionate about developing their analysis and leadership skills.

Job Responsibilities

  • Gain a deep understanding of the key business processes, integration layers, people, and IT systems that support them.
  • Gather, analyse, validate, define business value, and document requirements for business problems in collaboration with business stakeholders and the Product Owner.
  • Analyse integration and system requirements and conduct impact analysis.
  • Understand and communicate system impact / dependencies on other IT systems.
  • Formulate required specifications, diagrams and assist with documentation of high-level test scenarios.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure requirements are understood.
  • Collaborate with testers and business to ensure that test coverage is complete.
  • Manage project implementation and coordination across teams, where applicable
  • Facilitate and run refinement sessions.
  • Support the overall wellbeing of our IT systems and help translate the knowledge gained by our team to knowledge that can be shared across the floor.
  • Collaborate with other analysts in IT to ensure consistency of solutions and re-use of solutions, where possible.
  • Be the liaison between business and IT.
  • Assist with production support.
  • Assess scope of projects and assist with planning and prioritisation in collaboration with the Product Owner.
  • Develop contingency plans where appropriate.
  • Improve process efficiency within the team.
  • Drive knowledge share within the team.


Skills and experience required

  • At least 3 years' experience as a Business Analyst in an IT environment
  • Competent in SQL (Writing queries, joining tables, data manipulation)
  • Experience running with Integration Projects where the impact spans multiple teams.
  • Experience doing impact Analysis with APIs, End Points, webservices and payloads.
  • Strong logical reasoning and attention to detail
  • Ability to engage confidently with stakeholders at any level.
  • Ability to handle complexity and work in complex integrating systems.
  • Methodical approach to work.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Understand and have experience in Agile methodologies, especially Scrum.
  • Demonstrates the ability to deal with complexity.
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Planning, organizational and time management skills
  • Experience working in the financial services industry.
  • Experience working with Life and Retirement products would be advantageous.


Education

Technology or Business Analyst qualification preferred.
