Job description

We are urgently seeking to appoint an Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) for one of our clients to be based at their offices in the Western Cape.

Their preference is to appoint an EAP who is registered with the Environmental Assessment Practitioners Association of South Africa (EAPASA).

*However, they will also consider a Candidate EAP with suitable experience.

Below are the details of the role:

Position: Registered Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP)

Location: Klapmuts farm area, between Paarl and Stellenbosch

Budget: ± R30 000 per month (depending on experience) - negotiable

Reporting to: The Directors, who are also Registered EAPs

Key Requirements:

  • Have proven experience in conducting Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), supported by a list of completed projects within the last 12 months.
  • Be proficient in managing environmental applications and processes, including Basic Assessments, Scoping & EIA, Amendments, Section 24G applications, etc., in compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Be capable of handling water use licence applications, air emission licence applications, and waste licence applications.
  • Be well organised, work well under pressure, and consistently deliver professional services on time and within budget.
  • Demonstrate excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Collaborate effectively with clients and specialists.
  • Work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Be willing to travel and hold a valid driver’s licence.

Ideal requirements:

  • Residence: Ideally the person should live within an area that allows for easy commuting to Klapmuts.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years in the field (a registered EAP will meet these qualifications).
  • Qualifications: A postgraduate or Honours degree in Environmental Management/Science (a registered EAP will already meet these qualifications).
  • Professional registration: A copy of the EAPASA registration certificate is mandatory.

Hiring Timeline: Full-time appointment following a 3-month probationary period.
