Job description

Semi-Skilled Trailer Mechanic Needed - Location: Wellington (Cape Town)

Previous Experience :
  • Successful candidates must have experience in conducting major services on trailers (BPW, HENRED, SAF HOLLAND TRAILERS).
General Description :
  • Responsible for workshop functions and repairs to company vehicles, specifically trailers.
Key Performance Areas :
  1. Repairs and Service of Trailers (First Priority)
    • Execute repairs, maintenance, standard services, and major annual services on trailers following guidelines set by the National Technical Manager.
    • Report faults or defects on trailers to management, including repair, maintenance, structural errors, and tyres.
    • Perform quality checks on all trailers in the depot.
    • Handle welding works on trailers and general welding tasks as requested.
    • Assist with truck tractor repairs, maintenance, and services as per standards.
  2. Team and Safety Management
    • Control work assigned to the team to ensure standards are met.
    • Assist and advise fellow mechanics and workers.
    • Report vehicle errors or faults to management.
    • Ensure a safe work environment and proper use of safety equipment.
    • Perform quality checks on vehicles.
  3. General Responsibilities
    • Be on standby after hours for service functions as needed.
    • Maintain cleanliness in the work environment.
  4. Administration
    • Complete parts requisitions and obtain authorization.
    • Fill out worksheets and ensure services meet standards; forward job cards to Wellington.
