Context & Environment

In a changing energy sector, the Company has decided to make significant investments in electricity and renewables. TotalEnergies had 16GW of operational renewable assets by Q3 2022, aiming for 35 GW by 2025 and 100 GW by 2030. In a competitive solar market, Total Solar International develops and invests in large solar power plants and energy storage projects.

Activities

As Head of Development, your responsibilities include:

1. Supervising project implementation from bid award or PPA signature to Notice To Proceed (NTP), including:

• Coordinating internal multidisciplinary teams and external partners, including lenders and consultants.
• Overseeing project closing activities across all areas from bid award to NTP.
• Managing project indicators such as timelines, budgets, and risks.
• Reporting to senior management and overseeing project governance.
• Monitoring and mitigating project risks.
• Supervising local development activities, permits, and land issues.
• Ensuring effective communication with equity partners.
• Integrating HSE considerations into project development.
• Leading finance teams and coordinating financial reporting.

Proposing new market routes and developing land and business opportunities in coordination with the Renewable Explorer and Regional BD team.

Managing TotalEnergies' interests in operational assets.

Candidate Profile

Ideal candidates will have:

• An engineering degree.
• Over 10 years of experience in renewable energy project management.
• Knowledge of the South African electricity market and local players.
• Expertise in project and program management, technical and financial negotiations, and renewables markets.
• Strong interpersonal skills and experience managing multicultural, cross-functional teams and partners.
• Analytical thinking, perseverance, and autonomy.
• Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.
• Fluent in English.
• Willingness to travel domestically frequently.
