Overview
Streetscapes is a Cape Town-based non-profit organisation dedicated to ending homelessness by growing better lives. We provide job opportunities to those looking for a hand up, not a handout, and work together with those living on the street to transform and rehabilitate their lives. Our programme includes work, community connection, harm reduction, psychosocial support and shelter.
Purpose
The Programmes Manager will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and overseeing the various programmes offered by Streetscapes. This newly created role will ensure that our initiatives are impactful, sustainable, and aligned with our mission.
Reporting to the Director, the Programmes Manager will work closely with our team, partners, and the communities we work in, driving positive change and supporting the holistic development of our participants.
The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of delivering on the ground programmes, an interest in social and urban development and keen to join a small, dynamic team making meaningful impact.
Responsibilities
·Design and Lead Programmes: Shape and implement impactful programmes that address the needs of homeless individuals and align with organisational objectives. Develop Standard Operating Procedures for programmes.
·Drive Advocacy Efforts: Represent Streetscapes in external forums to champion the rights of the homeless and raise public awareness on homelessness issues.
·Measure and Improve Impact: Track programme outcomes using data and beneficiary feedback to ensure effectiveness and drive continuous improvement.
·Strengthen Partnerships: Build and maintain productive relationships with government bodies, NGOs, and community organisations to enhance service delivery.
·Ensure Holistic Support: Oversee psychosocial support services, ensuring beneficiaries receive coordinated, person-centred care.
·Manage and Inspire Teams: Lead a diverse programme team, fostering a collaborative and supportive work culture. Provide supervision to social workers and auxiliary social workers.
·Ensure Operational Excellence: Oversee programme administration, including budgeting, reporting, and regulatory compliance.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
·A Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Development, or other relevant qualification.
· At least 10 years programme management experience gained within a relevant non-profit or social enterprise, incl. 3+ years team management
· Previous experience gained in homelessness, substance misuse, harm reduction or reintegration would be advantageous.
Skills & Attributes
·Knowledge - Demonstrated understanding of issues related to homelessness, substance misuse, harm reduction
·Team Leadership & Development Able to support, motivate, and manage diverse teams, often in informal or non-traditional work settings.
·Adaptability & Flexibility Adept at working in unpredictable environments with minimal infrastructure or formal systems.
·Communication, presentation and advocacy skills.
·Budgeting & Resource Management Experienced in developing and managing budgets
·Stakeholder Management Skilled in building relationships with a range of stakeholders and successfully collaborating with community partners.
·Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
·Problem Solving & Initiative Proven ability to think on their feet and come up with practical solutions in real-time.
·Empathy & Social Awareness Comfortable and effective working alongside people facing homelessness, addiction, and trauma.
·Computer literacy Highly proficient with MS Office
