About Us

Credé Oils is a South African manufacturer of a range of market-leading health food products, including the Credé Natural Oils range of cold-pressed and organic oils, the OhMega range of nuts and nut butters, and Dr Tom's Kombucha.

The company has been operating for 35 years and is second-generation family-owned and family-run. The company is looking for a candidate to take up the role of the Food Safety Manager at its production facility in Strand, Cape Town.

The successful applicant will lead a team of 7 staff members managing the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) at Crede Oils.

Current certifications include FSSC, Organic, Halaal, and Kosher.

Private label customers also conduct regular audits.

Skills & Experience

• BSc Food Science / BTech Food Technology or related qualification with a minimum of 5 years experience in an FSMS environment.
• Knowledge and experience in implementing and managing food safety systems based on FSSC, HACCP.
• Advantageous: Experience with Woolworths food safety standards, organic certification processes, and health and safety requirements in food processing.
• Understanding of South African labelling requirements and pest control systems in FSMS environments.
• Knowledge of allergen segregation in food production facilities.

Job Responsibilities

• Managing a team of seven staff to ensure food safety and quality, including:
• Implementation and maintenance of FSSC, HACCP-based food safety systems.
• Managing external audits such as FSSC, IBL, and Organic audits.
• Formulating policies and procedures for FSMS.
• Ensuring raw materials and end products meet quality specifications.
• Handling customer complaints, preventive and corrective actions.
• Formulating and monitoring product specifications for raw materials and final products.
• Managing supplier approval processes and updating supplier FSMS details.
• Assessing shelf life of products through testing.
• Troubleshooting quality issues and conducting root cause analysis.
• Sampling products for external laboratory testing.
• Managing pest control and related preventive and corrective actions.

Remuneration is highly dependent on experience and qualifications.
Cost to Company expected in the region of Rk p.a., but may vary.
