PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Financial Modelling Analytics Specialist plays a key role in our Predictive Analytics team, responsible for developing and delivering Provision and Profit models across industries, in compliance with IFRS 9 regulations. They will ensure project results meet client expectations in terms of quality, budget, and timelines.
The specialist will also innovate within financial analytics and develop analytical solutions beyond traditional financial modeling, showcasing innovative approaches with limited resources. Typical tasks include applying advanced analytical techniques, constructing data-driven models, and presenting insights with key recommendations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop PD, EAD, LGD, and Survival analysis models
- Use Markov Analysis for Portfolio Level Provision Forecasts
- Develop historic and forecasted profit models
- Create predictive models across the credit lifecycle and other industries
- Provide consulting advice to organizations relying on data-driven decision making
- Assist clients with analytics on a day-to-day basis
- Analyze reports, perform investigative analytics, and solve problems
- Prepare professional reports and presentations for clients
- Build relationships with clients to identify further development opportunities
- Collaborate with other departments on joint projects
- Discuss innovative solutions with clients
- Drive new product innovation within the analytics team
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSc/BComm in statistics, engineering, mathematics, finance, or related field (preferred minimum)
EXPERIENCE:
- At least 8 years in consumer credit analytics, with a focus on Financial Modelling and proven success in this area
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- Strong analytical skills
- Proficiency in SAS or similar statistical software
- Deep understanding of Financial modelling techniques
- Knowledge of predictive modelling and data science tools and techniques
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure
- Desire to learn and grow
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong presentation abilities
- Ability to work with diverse cultures
- Adaptability and improvisation skills
- Proficiency in Excel, VBA, Word, PowerPoint; SQL and Python are advantageous
OTHER:
- The role is hybrid, mostly remote, with in-person collaboration and travel to client sites in South Africa and possibly abroad.
