About the role
The role of the account manager is to ensure that the professionalism of IAG Cargo is upheld at all times. To deliver the revenue, yield, and volume targets for Johannesburg as set by IAGC management in accordance with Financial & Commercial plans.
What you’ll do
- Maintain and develop strong relationships with existing customers, build new relationships with new customers, and have a tri-patriot relationship (where possible) with shippers.
- Explore opportunities for growing Premium products and new destinations, making full use of IAGC's extensive network.
- Develop customer segments to support premium products and destination mix, aiming to grow the customer base.
- Evaluate the effect of differing aircraft and configuration changes on IAGC’s networks.
- Plan and deliver sales calls to the highest standards, through good planning and preparation of calls, including agendas, objectives, and Account Development plans per customer.
- Jointly with marketing executives, identify, evaluate, and implement incentive deals and commercial initiatives.
- Deliver seasonal sales call plans for regular visits to the Johannesburg market.
- Ensure the use of all available data (from various sources), whether Pulse/MIS/WACD or other commercial data, to drive commercial decisions.
- Manage flights effectively, delivering flight plans to GHA staff and handling cancellations—both planned and ad hoc—maximizing all available opportunities.
- Be the champion within IAG Cargo for programs, ensuring sufficient inter-departmental resources, focus, and communication. Key interfaces include Revenue Management, Operations, Finance, and Global Commercial Teams.
- Maintain effective internal and external communication with peers and management.
- Identify underperforming routes and provide action plans to correct performance.
- Follow up on customer loyalty programs, ensuring targets are correctly set up. Complete weekly/monthly reports as per management processes and contribute proactively to team meetings.
