Vacancy: Mergers & Acquisitions Associate

Location: Heldekruin, Roodepoort

Reporting To: Lead Mergers & Acquisitions

A vacancy exists for a Mergers & Acquisitions Associate reporting to the Executive Transaction Support, based at Heldekruin in Roodepoort. The Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) team provides support across the Fidelity Services Group to originate, execute, and realize value from potential acquisitions.

The team assists in unlocking and maximizing acquisition value throughout the process—from pre-acquisition evaluation, due diligence, to post-acquisition services. As an Associate, you will work as part of a team to address complex business issues from strategy to execution.

Skills and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Providing financial due diligence, project managing the acquisition and implementation process, negotiation support, and acquisition structuring for potential transactions.
  2. Collecting data from various sources, performing transactional procedures to validate data quality, and preparing financial models used during the acquisition process.
  3. Analyzing and presenting financial information, focusing on key accounts of historical financial position.
  4. Assisting team members in complex analysis of key performance drivers, EBITDA, working capital, and net debt.
  5. Evaluating strategic fit through identification of potential synergies and value enhancement opportunities.
  6. Identifying issues for purchase price reductions, deal structuring, or acquisition termination.
  7. Participating in and project managing acquisitions, including due diligence processes.
  8. Engaging with seller’s management to uncover insights on non-financial risks and opportunities.
  9. Preparing due diligence reports highlighting key deal issues and business drivers.
  10. Implementing post-acquisition actions to improve earnings and cash flow.
  11. Preparing payment files related to acquisitions.
  12. Supporting integration processes, including SAP integration.
  13. Providing any other ad-hoc assistance required by the CSA finance team.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or related field (preferably with honours) from a reputable university.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a M&A environment or 7-10 years' post-graduate experience as a financial manager.
  • Strong financial modelling skills and proficiency in Excel.
  • Valuations, financial modelling, and business development experience.
  • Due diligence experience (financial and commercial).
  • Excellent business writing and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate complex financial concepts clearly.
  • Self-motivated, able to work in a fast-paced environment, and meet deadlines.
  • Availability for extended hours and travel when required.
  • Clear criminal record and no pending cases.
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transport.
