Job Description
The successful candidate will report to the Supervisor: Fire and Rescue and will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Maintain operational readiness of resources including vehicles, equipment, and infrastructure to comply with Airport category standards.
- Operate firefighting and rescue equipment and tools.
- Understand vehicle and equipment limitations to ensure utilization within design parameters.
- Conduct routine inspections, maintenance, report defects, and follow up.
- Adhere to relevant statutory/legislative regulations, SOPs, operational standards, ACSA policies and procedures, employee manual, and Service Level Agreements/MOU to ensure business continuity.
- Activate and respond to incidents and accidents within the jurisdiction, scope of training, and expertise.
- Conduct emergency standbys as requested to prevent incidents and accidents.
- Analyze, monitor, identify, mitigate, and report non-compliance areas (HIRA).
- Perform runway, taxiway, and apron inspections and patrols to reduce hazards, notify ATC, and take remedial action if necessary.
- Build and maintain healthy relationships internally (peers, unions, teams) and externally (service providers), implementing remedial actions to achieve organizational goals and enhance emergency response preparedness.
- Record and capture information for billing purposes, including real-time flight information display screens.
- Participate in educational fire and safety awareness programs.
- Maintain physical fitness levels as per ACSA policies and procedures.
- Attend development programs for succession planning.
- Attend mandatory aviation training as per policies and legislative requirements.
- Perform duties as an Aircraft Marshaller in line with role requirements.
- Respond to medical emergencies within the jurisdiction and scope of training.
Technical Skills and Experience
- Valid Senior Certificate (Matric).
- Fire Fighter 1 certification.
- Hazmat Awareness certification.
- BAA/First Aid Level 3 certification.
- Basic proficiency in MS Office.
- Code B motor vehicle license.
