Job description

Job Description: Medical Assistant

Under general supervision, the Medical Assistant is responsible for providing patient care services, determining medical conditions, and preparing patients for examination and treatment under the direction of the Provider.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  1. Prepare patients for examination, record vital signs and history, and provide treatment as applicable.
  2. Prepare exam/treatment rooms; select, set up, sterilize, and maintain medical supplies and equipment for procedures.
  3. Prepare and administer injections, change dressings, and facilitate wound management under provider's orders.
  4. Collect blood, tissue, and other laboratory specimens through routine in-house testing procedures, analyze, and prepare for testing, log results, and perform lab call-backs.
  5. Document basic patient care and procedures, utilizing appropriate forms and electronic medical records.
  6. Schedule patients for tests, initial, and follow-up appointments if applicable.
  7. Instruct patients and family regarding treatment and medication instructions.
  8. Collaborate, take direction, and initiate actions that ensure seamless patient care through cross-functional team efforts.
  9. Perform opening/closing clinic duties and patient call-backs.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: High school graduate or equivalent is required.
  • Certificate / License: Current Certification as a Medical Assistant through programs such as RMA, AAMA, NCCT, CMAC, or AMCA is preferred.
  • Current BLS certification is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of one year of relevant experience is preferred.
