Strategic Marketing Leadership
- Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy to support business objectives, including product launches, brand positioning, and audience engagement.
- Identify emerging market trends and audience behaviours to refine and optimise marketing approaches.
- Oversee the execution of multi-channel campaigns across digital, print, social media, and traditional media platforms.
- Oversee brand consistency across all internal and external communication channels.
- Drive a data-driven marketing culture, ensuring continuous measurement, analysis, and reporting of marketing performance.
- Align marketing efforts with the company’s revenue goals, collaborating with the sales and Product teams to achieve sales targets.
- Build strategic partnerships with authors, industry influencers, booksellers, educational institutions, and media houses.
Corporate Communications
- Develop and implement the corporate communication strategy aligned with the company’s goals and values.
- Create and manage content for internal and external newsletters, announcements, and events.
- Ensure consistent messaging across all internal and external communication channels.
- Manage media relations, including press releases, interviews, and public engagements.
- Provide strategic counsel to senior leadership on communication trends and risks.
- Act as a brand ambassador, strengthening relationships with stakeholders, industry influencers, and the public.
- Oversee crisis communication and issues management, ensuring timely and effective response strategies.
Brand & Market Positioning
- Establish and maintain a strong brand identity for MML across all platforms.
- Develop author branding strategies to increase visibility and engagement.
- Ensure all communications are compliant with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and ethical standards.
- Ensure consistent messaging and positioning across different book genres, series, and audience segments.
- Lead consumer research initiatives to understand reader preferences, buying behaviours, and feedback.
- Monitor digital channels and respond to online inquiries or concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Partner with the sales team to develop marketing initiatives that drive sales in retail, educational, and online channels.
- Develop and implement pricing strategies, promotions, and discount campaigns to maximize revenue.
- Collaborate with sales teams to develop retail and distribution marketing plans.
- Identify new revenue streams, including subscriptions, memberships, and digital product innovations.
- Oversee the company’s website, e-commerce platform, and digital content strategies.
- Ensure corporate website content remains relevant, updated, and aligned with business objectives.
- Develop digital-first marketing campaigns that leverage AI, automation, and analytics for audience targeting.
- Implement content marketing strategies, including blogs, video marketing, podcasts, and social media engagement.
- Monitor digital advertising spend, ROI, and performance metrics.
Public Relations & Stakeholder Engagement
- Develop and maintain media relationships to secure book reviews, press coverage, and industry features.
- Work with authors to create PR opportunities, interviews, and public appearances.
- Represent MML at industry events, literary fairs, and business conferences.
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing marketing team.
- Set clear performance goals and KPIs for the team, providing guidance and support for professional growth.
- Foster a collaborative culture between marketing, Product, Design, and Sales teams.
- Manage marketing budgets, ensuring cost-effective campaigns and efficient resource allocation.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Marketing or Communications (preferred).
Experience Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in marketing, brand management, or publishing marketing.
- Proven track record of leading a marketing team and / or function executing successful campaigns.
- Strong understanding of the publishing industry, market trends in education, and consumer insights.
- Experience in digital marketing, e-commerce, and online book promotion.
- Hands-on experience in event planning, PR, and media relations.
- Familiarity with publishing software, content management systems, and marketing automation tools.
