The Coordinator, Marketing MTB South Africa works within the Cape Town Marketing team and is responsible for the coordination of strategic overall event marketing and communication programs for South African mountain bike events that deliver participants against budgeted athlete targets and brand growth.The Coordinator, Marketing MTB South Africa brings strong project management skills, creativity, organisation, analytical aptitude, teamwork and confidence to work with multiple stakeholders and achieve project goals.
Responsibilities
- Support in the develop of a cohesive strategic marketing plan in for South African mountain bike events to increase brand affinity, market share and respective event sales targets for The IRONMAN Group events in the Epic Series brand of mountain bike events.
- Ensure the development and implementation of event-specific marketing and communication plans throughout the year to deliver on event-specific and series marketing KPIs.
- Plan and facilitate media buying and creative development for print, radio, out of home and other traditional media in addition to digital advertising and new media placements, either through media agencies or direct negotiation.
- Develop and project manage strong on-event marketing plans to achieve strategic marketing deliverables in conjunction with Epic Series brand and local event teams for South African mountain bike events.
- Identify and capitalize on opportunities for MTB market growth at grassroots level within the South African MTB community to support series wide strategic objectives.
- Serve as key marketing contact in South Africa for the Epic Series mountain bike brand and ensure delivery of marketing and communication responsibilities for series in relation to the region.
- Manage photography and video production service providers to deliver required creative content.
- Content development and oversight of South African event social media accounts in close collaboration with Senior Marketing Manager and digital agency for development and execution of paid digital campaigns.
- Manage, update, and circulate weekly marketing documentation including marketing plans, opportunities, and challenges for South African mountain bike events.
- Support as needed on European Epic Series events marketing campaigns
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3 - 5 years marketing experience
- Fluent in English
- Demonstratable project management experience
- Excellent influencing and negotiation skills across all layers of the organization
- Superior time management and prioritization skills, working as team member
- Possess a goal-oriented approach, with the desire and capability to track activities to business metrics and an overall plan.
- Strong attention to detail
- A passion for mountain biking is a plus
- Ability to work some weekends and non-traditional hours
- Ability to travel 25%+
