Job summary

A leading facilities management company is seeking a Maintenance Engineer to implement effective maintenance systems and ensure SLA delivery. The role requires overseeing maintenance strategies, managing technical staff, and ensuring quality and cost efficiency. Candidates should have a relevant engineering degree and substantial experience in maintenance engineering, particularly in the mining sector.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Maintenance Engineering.

  • At least 3 years supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

Job description

ROLE PURPOSE

To implement an effective maintenance system within the Client facilities and ensure SLA delivery.

MAIN OUTPUTS
  1. Identify maintenance risks on Client’s property and equipment for evaluation and resolution.
  2. Drive timely execution of effective maintenance strategies, including planned, preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance.
  3. Ensure optimal utilization of available resources for various maintenance tasks.
  4. Ensure the timely delivery and appropriateness of parts and spares for effective maintenance, in liaison with the RC.
  5. Continuously monitor and evaluate maintenance work performed by technical staff to ensure quality, cost efficiency, and adherence to SLA, work instructions, and Client’s instructions.
  6. Plan and manage human resources to execute maintenance schedules and emergency requirements.
  7. Manage operations within the allocated budget.
  8. Oversee technical staff performance, providing coaching, support, and feedback for improvement.
  9. Handle performance management and conflict resolution among subordinate employees, following company policies and procedures.
  10. Ensure adequate staffing, including preparing shift rosters and managing leave.
  11. Responsible for training, coaching, mentoring, and developing Electricians, HVAC Technicians, and Handymen Infrastructure staff.
Qualifications And Skills

The applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Matric (Senior Certificate)
  • National Diploma/Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
  • Relevant trade certificate
  • Valid SA Driver's License
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Maintenance Engineering, Facilities Maintenance, CRM & Property Management
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the mining industry
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Outlook (intermediate level)
  • SAP knowledge
  • Knowledge of OHS Act, ISO 9001 Quality Management, Risk Management Systems, Property Law & Contractual Law
  • Relevant on-site training (SOP, HIRA, Fatigue Management)
  • At least 3 years supervisory experience
