Job description

Role Description

This role provides financial, commercial, and strategic support to FNZ (SA) Ltd, with assistance to the FNZ Group as required. It is suited for an experienced and qualified Chartered Accountant familiar with complex and regulated growth environments. The successful candidate will command respect and deliver flawless execution.

The SA CFO will lead FNZ (SA)’s Finance function, balancing stewardship responsibilities (value protection) with providing useful business insights and commercial support (value enhancement).

As this role is caught by the Senior Managers Regime, the role holder must adhere to the FCA’s Conduct Rules.

Specific Role Responsibilities

General:

  • Partner with the CEO, Group CFO, and the Board to create a long-term (3–5 years) business plan to create shareholder wealth.
  • Ensure FNZ (SA) has the appropriate skills and resources to comply with local financial regulatory requirements and manage financial risks.
  • Implement processes and controls to execute plans, including creating and adhering to an annual budget.
  • Act as a bridge between the UK Board and Finance (and other functions) to communicate finance strategy throughout the business.
  • Liaise with auditors, bankers, investors, and other external finance functions.
  • Ensure regular Board reporting, including management accounts, customer profitability analysis, and cash flow forecasting.
  • This role does not involve activities impacting CASS processing within FNZ or its clients.
  • Remain updated on CASS developments and changes communicated by FNZ.
  • Participate in regulated and non-regulated SA entity committee boards.

Finance:

Assist the Group CFO in:

  • Driving best practice financial management.
  • Managing annual budgeting and rolling forecasts.
  • Implementing measures to control costs through effective cost centre accountability.

Strategy:

Assist the Group CFO in:

  • Positioning the business for an eventual exit.
  • Handling corporate finance matters like debt raising and investor relations.
  • Developing strategic plans.
  • Assessing the scope, costs, and benefits of transformational initiatives.

Commercial:

  • Ensure controls over sales and expenditure processes.

Regulatory Capital Management:

  • Report and monitor FNZ (SA) Ltd’s regulatory capital and Pillar 1 requirements.
  • Handle stress testing, reverse stress testing, and wind-down calculations.
  • Assist in producing and maintaining the ICAAP.
  • Manage liquidity risk under BIPRU12.

Approved Person:

Director of good standing

  • Maintain strong governance and responsible management of FNZ’s affairs.
  • Provide challenge at Board and Committee levels.
  • Oversee FNZ’s financial affairs and regulatory compliance.
  • Stay informed on the regulatory environment and FCA’s requirements.
  • Ensure systems and controls comply with FCA rules.
  • Identify and regularly reassess risks, conflicts of interest, and staff competence.
