Sourcing & Insurance Manager

Job Purpose

Lead and manage all sourcing and procurement activities, ensuring effective strategies, negotiations, and cost-efficient purchasing aligned with business goals. Manage key support functions including insurance, claims, facilities, master data, and administrative responsibilities to support strategic and operational objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Sourcing
    • Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with operational and financial goals.
    • Negotiate with suppliers to secure advantageous terms and mitigate risks.
    • Implement procurement policies, standards, and procedures for compliance.
    • Lead contract negotiations and manage supplier performance.
    • Collaborate with finance and operations for forecasting, budgeting, and value creation.
    • Manage procurement reporting, analytics, and dashboards.
    • Build internal stakeholder relationships to support strategic sourcing.
    • Promote continuous improvement and digital tools in procurement.
    • Ensure B-BBEE procurement compliance and drive transformation initiatives.
    • Lead risk assessments and mitigation plans.
    • Guide and develop the procurement team fostering accountability and innovation.
  2. Procurement
    • Manage procurement of goods and services, purchase orders, approvals, payments, and vendor relations.
  3. Insurance
    • Oversee insurance renewals, underwriting, claims management, and risk transfer strategies.
    • Drive reduction in claims and incidents, and promote insurance awareness.
  4. Facilities Management
    • Manage the operation and maintenance of the Head Office facilities, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency.
  5. Travel Management
    • Implement effective travel processes, cost-saving initiatives, and policy compliance.
  6. Company Administration
    • Oversee lease agreements, vendor creation, payments, and credit facilities.
  7. Master Data
    • Maintain vendor master data within the ERP system, ensuring compliance and data quality.
Key Relationships

Internal: Operations, finance, warehouse, sales, compliance teams.
External: Suppliers, regulatory authorities, industry bodies.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.
  • CIPS Certification or equivalent advantageous.
  • Membership of the Insurance Institute of South Africa (IISA) advantageous.
  • Minimum 7+ years' sourcing experience, preferably in FMCG or logistics.
  • At least 7+ years insurance and administration experience.
  • Minimum 3 years in managerial or strategic sourcing and insurance roles.
  • Experience managing high-value contracts, change management, and process optimization.
  • Skills in contractual dispute resolution, cost optimization, procurement frameworks, risk management, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Insurance expertise in corporate coverage.
  • Proficiency in procurement systems (SAP, Oracle), e-sourcing platforms, and reporting tools (Excel, Power BI).
  • Strong leadership, integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
