Job description

The role of the Compliance Specialist is to support the Head of Compliance in executing and maintaining the Compliance Management System (CMS) to foster a culture of compliance and enable BMW Financial Services to achieve its strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Anti-Money Laundering (AML):
    • Maintain a 'green' rating for AML compliance.
    • Develop and maintain the Risk Management Compliance Program (RMCP) aligned with relevant legislation.
    • Manage AML systems, perform reviews, and submit reports such as STRs, SARs, TPRs, and CTRs via the goAML portal.
    • Conduct training and awareness sessions on AML.
  2. Financial Sanctions:
    • Ensure sanctions screening on all relevant parties and maintain a 'green' rating.
  3. Data Privacy:
    • Implement and maintain the Data Privacy program in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act.
    • Manage privacy rights, conduct PIA and PoPIA assessments, and oversee third-party data processing.
  4. Corporate Governance:
    • Develop and maintain the Corporate Rules Management framework.
    • Coordinate policy adoption and communicate updates across the organization.
  5. Compliance Monitoring:
    • Perform internal audits, control reviews, and testing of controls.
    • Ensure timely completion and reporting of audit activities.
  6. Reporting:
    • Prepare compliance reports for various governance forums.
    • Coordinate audit requests and support audit remediation efforts.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Commerce Honors (Internal Audit) and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).
  • Over 10 years of experience as a Compliance Specialist, with roles including AML Officer, Data Protection Officer, and Internal Auditor, preferably in automotive finance.
  • Deep knowledge of legislation such as the Financial Intelligence Centre Act, POPI Act, and others.
  • Experience in developing AML, Data Privacy, Policy Management, and Internal Audit programs.
  • Ability to work independently under pressure and engage with executive management.
  • Advantageous: RE5 and RE1 exam qualifications.
