Job Description

We are entering our next phase of growth and are now looking to establish a dynamic, tech driven capability in Cape Town. We are seeking a skilled Data Scientist to broaden our engineering capabilities –this will involve using your expertise to extract meaningful insights from complex data sets to find innovative solutions for our clients. Your primary focus will be to employ advanced analytical techniques to interpret data trends and patterns, enabling informed decision-making processes that drive business strategy.

We will provide everything you need to work remotely in this role, however as we grow our new office based in Cape Town we are excited to build a flexible hybrid working option to allow for team collaboration in person as we continue to scale.

As a Data Scientist, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop predictive models and implement machine learning algorithms that enhance our software solutions. Your contributions will play a pivotal role in optimising our products and enhancing user experience. We are looking for an individual who not only possesses strong analytical skills but also has a passion for transforming data into actionable insights. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in statistical programming, data visualisation, and database management.

Requirements

The ideal person for this role will have previous experience of developing and implementing predictive models and machine learning algorithms, utilising data visualisation tools to present findings and communicate results to stakeholders with excellent analytical skills from analysing complex data sets to derive actionable insights and support business objectives.

Please apply if any of the following apply to you:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Data Scientist or similar role working with data, statistics and modelling
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java.
  • Strong understanding of statistical methods and Machine Learning algorithms.
  • Experience with data visualisation tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Familiarity with big data technologies and frameworks such as Hadoop or Spark.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset and attention to detail.

This role provides a unique opportunity for a proactive and driven person to take their engineering career to the next level. We are excited to work with someone who considers themselves a Tech Enthusiast - you love tech and can’t wait to learn more about projects, systems and data, with an aptitude for challenging existing ways of working, able recognise opportunities and identify innovative solutions that add real value to clients.

We are a young, small company experiencing exciting growth and we are devoted to hire people at this stage who will be future leaders within our business. We are committed to your ongoing learning and development and love working with curious, life long learners - we have access to the latest technology and will provide training in these and certifications to help you grow and succeed.
