What will you do?

This leadership role bridges actuarial science, data science, machine learning, and engineering.

You will lead a multidisciplinary team working with telematics and alternative data to deliver solutions in usage-based insurance, claims innovation, product development, and risk assessment.

You will operate at the intersection of data, strategy, and technology to drive meaningful transformation in insurance product development, risk understanding, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and deploy scalable, real-time systems for high-frequency vehicle sensor and telemetry data processing.
• Develop and maintain APIs and automation tools in Python and C# for internal and customer-facing applications.
• Oversee AI model deployment, including computer vision and large language models, to automate claims and enhance document processing.
• Foster innovation by integrating traditional actuarial methods with modern MLOps, software engineering, and streaming analytics.
• Manage machine learning pipelines using tools like MLflow for reproducibility and governance.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to embed analytics into core processes and customer experiences.
• Mentor and develop a high-performing team of data scientists and engineers.
• Provide strategic insights through dashboards, models, and reports for decision-making.

Qualifications

Degree in Actuarial Science, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or related field (Honours or Master's preferred).

Experience

• At least 5 years in data science or data engineering roles, preferably in telematics-driven insurance.
• Proficiency in Python and C#, with strong object-oriented programming and API skills.
• Advanced SQL skills for data processing and database management.
• Experience with Git, MLflow, and deploying ML models.
• Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks like XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.
• Familiarity with Docker, messaging systems like RabbitMQ, and large-scale datasets from IoT or telematics sources.
• Strong software engineering principles and business acumen.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
