Merchandise Planner - Jewellery - Cape Town

Position Description: MERCHANDISE PLANNER

Jewellery has an exciting opportunity available for a Merchandise Planner for our flagship Brands. If you would like to join a leading retailer in South Africa, and you possess the following abilities, then this is the ideal position for you.

1. Work collaboratively with the buying team to maximise sales, optimise inventory levels and grow profit
2. Analysis of merchandise performance with relevant outcomes proposed
3. Effectively develop, communicate, present and implement the product strategy
4. Effectively develop, communicate, present and implement the location strategy
5. Effectively communicate, present and implement the promotional strategy aligned to marketing campaigns
6. Financial and strategic management of the product e.g. product planning, allocations, controlling OTB, reviewing weekly & monthly figures
7. Provide weekly and monthly trade feedback with associated action plans
8. Managing monthly, seasonal and financial year forecasts for product categories
9. Managing range size and assortments
10. Managing replenishment stock
11. Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with internal and external partners, including suppliers

Key Requirements:

• Matric
• Relevant 3 year tertiary qualification
• 3 - 5 years + proven working experience as a Merchandise Planner
• A high degree of numeracy and an analytical, detailed and strategic approach to work
• Computer literacy in MS Office, excel (intermediate to advanced)
• Strong aptitude for ERP systems (Planning, Allocations, Buy-Plans, etc.)
• Strong business acumen and merchant thinking
• Good organisational and interpersonal skills
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Proven decision-making ability
• Preference will be given, but not limited to, candidates from designated groups in terms of the Employment Equity Act.
