Job description

We have Mid-level and Senior Project Section Lead and Draughtsman positions available with salaries ranging from R50k per month. Located in the East Rand in Germiston (Elandsfontein), our client specializes in delivering modular process solutions to the capital equipment market.

With a focus on innovation and quality, our client caters to diverse industries, ensuring exceptional customer service and ongoing support.

Position Overview: (All these might not be applicable to the mid-level positions): The Drawing Office Project Section Leader is responsible for overseeing draughtsmen on projects and ensuring the successful delivery of project drawings and documentation.

This role involves managing the drawing production process, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring that all drawings meet quality standards and project requirements within agreed timeframes.

This role is responsible for the technical coordination and management of projects in the drawing office.

Ensure that drawing office resources are managed accordingly, and that details and designs are completed in accordance with required specifications, client requirements, and good engineering practices for the specific project.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Team Leadership and Management: Manage a team of draughtsmen to produce project-specific drawings as per project schedule. Allocate tasks and responsibilities, ensuring optimal use of resources. Mentor, develop, and upskill team.
  2. Project Coordination: Act as the primary point of contact between the drawing office and project management teams. Ensure that all drawings and documentation are produced in accordance with project specifications and deadlines. Coordinate with engineers to gather information for draughtsmen and clarify project requirements.
  3. Quality Assurance: Review and approve all drawings and documentation before submission to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards.
  4. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of drawing revisions, project changes, and document control.
  5. Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all drawings adhere to company standards, regulatory requirements, and industry codes.
  6. Client Interaction: Engage with clients to understand their requirements and provide updates on drawing progress. Address and resolve any client concerns or issues related to drawing documentation.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Diploma in engineering / 20 years experience in a multiskilled/multidiscipline environment
  • Proven experience in a drawing office or similar role, with a strong background in managing draughtsmen
  • Proficiency in relevant design software like AutoCAD, Plant 3D, Inventor
  • Advanced experience in disciplines such as Civils (Layout, G.As, rebar schedules), Piping (Layouts, G.As, isometrics), Structural (Layouts, G.As, fabrications details), and Mechanical (tanks, pressure vessels, shop detailing)
  • Site experience including installation assistance, site meetings, and client meetings
  • Knowledge of petrochemical and mining plant and equipment
