Job Description
An organisation is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Financial Controller to join its finance team and support continued growth. The Financial Controller will be responsible for managing all facets of financial operations, including overseeing payments, day-to-day accounting functions, regulatory compliance, and financial reporting. Additionally, the role involves developing and implementing effective internal control policies and procedures to ensure financial integrity and operational efficiency. This role offers the potential for flexible working arrangements, including the option to work from home, based on performance and output.

Responsibilities:

Lead the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

Coordinate the preparation of audit activities.

SARS reporting and submissions including VAT and PAYE.

Manage all accounting operations including payments, invoices, accounts receivable, accounts payable and sales and leaseback transactions (with CFO and Network asset accountant).

Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting.

Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.

Manage and mentor members of the finance and accounting team. (Currently two junior accountants will report into this role)

Manage key banking relationships

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA or equivalent qualification preferred).
• Proven experience (5+ years) in financial management, preferably in a similar role.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
• The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and possess a proactive drive to resolve issues and ensure the thorough completion of tasks.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in financial software and tools (e.g., Excel, Xero, ERP systems)
