Junior Achievement (JA) South Africa - Business Development Executive

Junior Achievement (JA) South Africa is a non-profit organisation dedicated to facilitating experiential financial literacy, entrepreneurial, and workplace readiness programmes for youth across the country, in both rural and urban environments.

Established in 199?, JA South Africa is affiliated with JA Worldwide, one of the largest business education organisations globally, operating in over 100 countries. JA South Africa seeks to appoint a Business Development Executive based in Johannesburg. Reporting to the Managing Director, the incumbent must be a sales professional, target-driven, and results-oriented.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing the strategic business development plan in collaboration with the Marketing Sub-Committee of the JA South Africa Board of Directors and the Executive Management team.

The core focus will be to generate new business and manage stakeholder relations.

Responsibilities:
  1. Develop a growth strategy focused on financial gain and stakeholder satisfaction in conjunction with the Managing Director and Marketing Sub-Committee of the Board.
  2. Work with the M&E Officer to gather programme performance data and intelligence to transition to a new business as usual position.
  3. Conduct research to identify new markets and stakeholder needs.
  4. Prioritize organizations for engagement.
  5. Manage and expand various local and international strategic partnership arrangements.
  6. Support fundraising initiatives by pursuing funding leads and contributing to proposal writing.
  7. Maintain strategic relations with key stakeholders, providing feedback and post-support.
  8. Collaborate with the Executive Management on funding targets, planning, and forecasting, maintaining short- and long-term business development plans.
  9. Create and maintain a database of prospective clients using Salesforce.
  10. Make outbound calls to potential clients, set targets, and meet quotas for calls, appointments, and interviews, aiming to exceed annual goals.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of senior-level business development and marketing experience.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple projects.
  • Results-oriented, driven by KPIs.
  • Knowledge of the youth development sector and experience working with senior stakeholders.
  • Post-matric qualification (Master's or postgraduate degree) in business or marketing management.
  • High computer literacy.
  • Experience with media across all platforms.
