Job description

Assistant Financial Manager – Johannesburg (Ref JHB)

JG Afrika is looking for an Assistant Financial Manager for their Financial Department, based in Sunninghill, Johannesburg.

Duties and Responsibilities :
  1. Play a leadership role within the finance team (3 staff).
  2. Assist with the preparation of monthly and annual financial accounts for audit.
  3. Oversee the Payables process.
  4. Manage primary administrative relationships with bank partners.
  5. Handle depreciation of fixed assets and reconcile fixed asset schedules to the trial balance monthly.
  6. Manage administrative matters for all installment sale agreements and mortgage facilities.
  7. Prepare and submit monthly VAT returns for review.
  8. Draft annual financial statements using CaseWare.
  9. Assist in the operation and development of the finance department.
  10. Oversee revenue recognition and sub-consultant accounting.
  11. Manage accounts receivable recoveries and bad debt procedures.
  12. Handle expense claims and staff accounts.
  13. Coordinate payroll cycles and ensure compliance.
  14. Ensure tax compliance and manage income tax matters.
Qualifications :
  • Minimum of a B (Hons) in Accounting.
Experience :
  • Approximately 5 years' experience in a similar role.
  • Experience with relevant software is required.
Skills :
  • Understanding of IFRS and ability to apply within JG Afrika's accounting processes.
  • Timely, complete, and accurate reporting skills.
