Job Background

The role of the Early Year’s Supervisor is to deliver quality early years services to support the delivery of the Sure Start programme within Bangor Sure Start. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the early years services and ensuring a welcoming, safe, and child-centred environment.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Assist in the induction of all Early Years Assistant staff within Bangor Sure Start Project alongside the Early Years Coordinator.
  2. Line manage and supervise Early Years Assistant staff.
  3. Supervise student placements and volunteers within the early years programmes of Bangor Sure Start.
  4. Implement a child-centred and welcoming environment at all Sure Start programmes and activities.
  5. Ensure a safe, stimulating, and varied programme of play and learning opportunities for children aged 0–3 years, suitable to their age and stage of development.
  6. Plan activities that meet children’s individual needs, considering their abilities, interests, language, and cultural backgrounds, with ongoing creative evaluation.
  7. Organise the environment inside and outside to ensure resources and equipment are available, compliant, and appropriate to meet individual needs.
Essential Criteria
  • Minimum of QCF Level 5 Child Care qualification or equivalent
  • At least 1 year’s experience working in an early years sector
  • At least 1 year’s experience line managing staff
  • Five GCSEs including English language and Maths at Grade C or above
  • Clean driver’s license and access to transport
Desirable Criteria
  • One year’s experience of child observations and reporting on work done
