Job description

Requirements :

  • Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner . Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner . No experience required after registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner .Current registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner. Knowledge: Experience in medical emergency. Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work under pressure. The following will be added advantage: BLS/ ACLS/ PALS/ ATLS / DipPEC/ Ultrasound courses or equivalent.

Duties :

  • Evaluation and clinical management of patients referred to the Emergency Department. Perform Commuted Overtime. Clinical training and teaching of undergraduate students. Attending and presenting at academic meetings. Encourage good working relationships between colleagues and departments, Availability for ongoing assessment. Signing annual performance agreements and availability for quarterly reviews. Relevant administration as required including for medico-legal purposes.

Registrars will be required to rotate between the different institutions. Preference will be given to South African citizens. The performance of normal and commuted overtime is not mandatory, however it will be based on the operational needs of the hospitals.
