Job Title: Pump Technician

We are seeking a qualified Pump Technician to join our LCS team. You will be responsible for providing Metso’s customers with professional technical support of its products.

This position will coordinate and work closely with the Service Business Line Technical Support Teams to ensure a common understanding and application of technical support and information to support and provide excellent customer service on Metso Equipment.

You will report to the Field Service Supervisor.

This position is based at Kathu, Northern Cape.

You will join a team of Technicians that strive to effectively deliver a seamless experience, providing technical solutions that meet customer needs and support the sales team to enhance relationships and sales realization.

You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders, such as the LCS Support Centre, to ensure a common understanding and application of technical and safety support and information for excellent customer service on Metso’s equipment.

What You’ll Do

1. Ensure customers and FSE team have access to high-quality product and technical support promptly.
2. Establish best practice customer technical support services for Metso equipment.
3. Support internal/external customers with technical information to facilitate activities and projects.
4. Identify potential new product/spares offerings from process problem reviews.
5. Install and commission Metso equipment effectively and accurately.
6. Perform repairs according to Metso Standards.
7. Communicate effectively with customers, providing training and instructions.
8. Work efficiently on multiple projects, organizing and prioritizing tasks.
9. Prepare and submit reports/feedback timely within Metso and to customers.
10. Maintain positive customer relations and demonstrate strong communication skills.
11. Perform routine and non-routine maintenance activities.
12. Identify and report risks of component or equipment failure.
13. Inspect, install, and maintain mechanical machines and equipment on site.
14. Rebuild and replace components, perform alignments.
15. Troubleshoot hydraulics and pneumatics.
16. Perform welding and cutting as needed.
17. Ensure safety and efficiency in all tasks, contributing to safety and reliability improvements.
18. Operate mobile equipment safely.
19. Follow all plant policies regarding safety and operations.

Who You Are

• Trades papers in Fitting - Essential
• Computer literacy
• Understanding of customer relations principles
• Grade 12
• Minimum 5 years’ field service experience on mining process equipment (Crushers/Pumps) - Essential
• Experience with Pumps and Crushers is advantageous
• Effective communication and performance orientation
• Teamwork skills
• Valid driver’s license (C1)
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 – 2008, Mine Health and Safety Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act
