Job description

Minimum Qualifications:

  • National Senior Certificate with accounting as a subject.
  • Diploma or Certificate in Payroll Administration would be advantageous.

Experience required:

  • Work Experience:
  • +-2 years of relevant work experience in payroll administration or a related field is preferable.
  • Relevant work experience in the Wholesale and Retail sector would be advantageous.
  • Prior experience processing payroll for African countries would be advantageous.
  • Proficiency in Payroll Software: Experience in SAGE 300 People is a prerequisite.
  • Payroll Processing Experience: Must have experience with payroll processing, including responsibilities such as calculating wages, taxes, and deductions; processing payroll transactions; and ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations.
  • Compliance and Regulations:
  • Must have +- 2 years of experience in applying South African labour laws, tax regulations, and payroll compliance requirements in practise.

Skills required:

  • Attention to Detail: a keen attention to detail is required and must be able to accurately capture input and review of salary information to ensure payroll accuracy and compliance.
  • Time Management: Effective timemanagement skills are required to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and ensure payroll is processed on time without errors. Must be able to manage tight deadlines, especially during busy payroll processing periods.
  • Communication Skills: Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written. The successful candidate needs to effectively communicate with employees, managers, and external stakeholders regarding payroll-related matters, answer inquiries, and provide support.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: The successful candidate must have the ability to identify problems, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions is crucial to ensure accurate payroll processing and resolve any issues that arise.
  • Ethical Conduct: The successful candidate must work ethically by maintaining confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards in handling payroll data to uphold the integrity of the payroll process.
  • Teamwork: The successful candidate must be able to successfully collaborate with colleagues in HR, finance, and other departments to ensure smooth payroll operations. The successful candidate must possess strong teamwork skills, be an effective communicator, able to share information, and work together to achieve common goals related to payroll administration.
