Under the direction of the Related Services Director, the Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for evaluating, determining eligibility, and providing appropriate supplementary aids and services to assigned students, according to Federal and State guidelines.
Description
Davis School District is accepting applications for Speech-Language Pathologists for the 2025-2026 school year. GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Related Services Director, the Speech-Language Pathologist is responsible for evaluating, determining eligibility, and providing appropriate supplementary aids and services to assigned students, according to Federal and State guidelines. Salary: within District guidelines on Table 1 Essential Job Functions: 1. Administers, scores, and interprets formal and informal speech and language tests including, but not limited to, standardized norm-referenced speech and language tests which are appropriate in determining eligibility for special education services and providing diagnostic information for educational programming. 2. Develops/adapts, administers, scores, and interprets curriculum-based assessments in making educational program decisions. 3. Observes, records, analyzes, and summarizes the speech and language behavior of students referred for evaluation or otherwise indicated as requiring such, in the regular classroom setting and other settings as appropriate. 4. Coordinates, administers, scores, and interprets audiological hearing screenings for schools and communicates the results to appropriate people and agencies. 5. Develops an IEP in collaboration with other multidisciplinary team members, for each qualifying student utilizing information obtained from the completed assessment battery. 6. Develops appropriate lesson plans consistent with the IEP goals and objectives, following a specified plan. 7. Delivers specially designed instruction consistent with the IEP and tiered educational (academic and social) supports, as appropriate, that are aligned with the students needs. 8. Utilizes a system for ongoing maintenance of individual and student progress data for complying with local, state, and federal requirements. 9. Maintains classroom organization and discipline. 10. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a functional productive learning atmosphere. 11. Utilizes computers and other technological support equipment in assisting students with instruction. 12. Provides and maintains a safe and supervised environment in the therapy setting. 13. Evaluates student growth, keeping accurate records and preparing periodic progress reports to be shared with parents, other staff members, and appropriate medical personnel. 14. Communicates with parents on an ongoing basis through conferences and other means discussing progress and defining and refining individual goals. 15. Communicates, cooperates, and collaborates with other professional staff, in academic, social, and personal growth areas. 16. Supervises Speech-Language Technicians as outlined in the USBE SLT Handbook. 17. Maintains supervising competencies consistent with the USBE SLT Handbook. 18. Demonstrates adherence to the professional Code of Ethics as outlines by the Utah Professional Practices Advisory Commission. Minimum Requirements: 1. Masters Degree in the area of speech-language pathology or equivalent from an accredited college or university. 2. Valid professional educator license for the State of Utah with a Speech-Language Pathologist area of concentration. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Strong oral and written communication skills. 2. Strong computer and educational technological skills. 3. Ability to work independently with little direct supervision. 4. Ability to work as part of a team. 5. Ability to establish and maintain a positive learning environment and handle student management issues in a calm manner. 6. Ability to deliver effective speech-language pathology services.
