Job description

Job Location : Gauteng, Centurion

Requirements
  • At least 2-3 years post-article experience
  • At least 2 years of experience with IFRS reporting and/or IFRS advisory
  • Group consolidation and reporting experience (advantageous)
  • Technical accounting experience (advantageous)
  • Experience working with executive and senior stakeholders (highly preferable)
  • Cognos Controller experience (advantageous)
  • IFRS 17 knowledge and experience (advantageous)
Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Prepare and review journals for the general ledger.
  2. Manage reconciliations of transactions on bank statements to the General Ledger.
  3. Ensure compliance of general ledger and financial controls with relevant standards.
  4. Identify issues and escalate as necessary.
  5. Initiate corrective actions when IFRS reporting or regulations are not met.
  6. Oversee the accounting functions within scope.
  7. Prepare consolidation packs for companies within scope.
  8. Coordinate and review IFRS accounts for each reporting period, focusing on high-risk areas.
  9. Review complex IFRS accounting treatments submitted by the business.
  10. Assist in group consolidation processes.
  11. Enhance systems, processes, and issues to improve financial management.
  12. Implement new IFRS standards and develop related policies and disclosures.
  13. Identify variances and investigate root causes.
  14. Analyze financial reports to identify opportunities or risks.
  15. Guide stakeholders and non-financial managers on finance matters.
  16. Manage intercompany balance reconciliations.
  17. Handle high-risk financial issues and contribute to policy development.
  18. Support the implementation of new reporting processes and systems.
  19. Improve current reporting processes and tools.
  20. Review account balances for reasonability and accuracy.
  21. Ensure IFRS and group accounting policy compliance in assigned sections of the group AFS.
  22. Assist in preparing group annual financial statements in compliance with IFRS and JSE listing requirements.
  23. Prepare IFRS-compliant financial statements for companies within scope.
  24. Take corrective actions for standards non-compliance.
  25. Promote and maintain a positive Group Finance culture and values.
  26. Liaise with external auditors and resolve audit queries.
