Research Analyst

Recruiting Locations: US-IL-Chicago | US-CA-Century City | US-CA-Los Angeles

Department: Library and Research Services

Summary

The Research Analyst will provide high-quality, in-depth legal and non-legal research using online and print resources. The incumbent will support the firm's practice area teams by providing key actionable insights to support better decision-making through topic-specific research and analytic results.

Note: The hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 1 p.m. - 9 p.m. CT (Chicago) / 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. PT (Los Angeles and Century City).

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Conduct high-level, customizable research and analytics in legal, business, and other subjects.
  2. Provide practice, subject, and/or industry research aligned with the firm's practice and business needs.
  3. Provide training on research strategies and resources.
  4. Develop and deliver presentations to attorney practice groups, colleagues, and other departments on research tools and current developments.
  5. Advise on collection development, including new databases, websites, and print materials.
  6. Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.
  7. Participate in weekend team rotations for day coverage.
  8. Work on special projects or other duties as assigned.

Salaries vary by location and are based on factors such as market, skills, experience, and education. An estimated salary range will be provided in the Target Salary Range section if available. Qualifications

To succeed in this role, candidates must be able to perform the duties listed above and meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Required: MLS from an ALA-accredited university or 3 years' experience in a research environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred: JD from an ABA-accredited law school or other advanced degree.
  • Strong technical skills, including familiarity with MS Office, SharePoint, and related tools.
  • Additional skills include strong organizational skills, attention to detail, good judgment, interpersonal communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work harmoniously with others, discretion, ability to work under pressure, and managing multiple projects with competing deadlines.
