A leading company in the electrical engineering sector is seeking an Estimator to calculate and prepare bids for electrical and engineering tender projects. The role involves assessing project feasibility, preparing competitive bids, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. Ideal candidates will have a background in electrical engineering and experience in cost estimation and proposal management.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Matric (Grade 12), ND in Electrical Engineering (Compulsory). B-Tech in Electrical Engineering (Advantage). ECSA Membership / Member of a Professional Body (Advantage).
PREFFERED MEMBERSHIPS: Project Management Accreditation, ECSA Membership & Member of a Professional Body (Advantage).
Calculate and estimate costs for Electrical & Engineering tender projects.
Bidding on or determining the price of electrical / industrial tenders / projects.
This role is crucial in determining project feasibility, preparing competitive bids, and ensuring profitability.
Analyze blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to determine the tender requirements of a project.
Analyse requirements, drawings, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labour estimates.
Develop and submit competitive project bids, ensuring all estimates align with project guidelines and profitability goals.
Calculate the costs of materials, labor, and equipment needed for electrical installations, including wire lengths, outlet placements, and fixture types and costs.
Conduct cost analyses to ensure project profitability.
Plan, architect, and control the submission of large proposal and tender documents, ensuring deadlines are met and proposals are competitive.
Build proposal/tender documents from existing content in collaboration with the engineering, sales, and projects teams, and management.
Update and improve existing generic content and write new content for future proposals.
Understand design and installation requirements from documents such as drawings and specifications.
Work closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients to define project scopes, timelines, and budgets.
Liaise with customers, partners, and suppliers to understand requirements and maintain strong relationships.
Ensure all electrical designs and estimates comply with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
Identify potential risks and challenges in projects and propose mitigation solutions.
