Job Description
An international retailer is growing to include a Senior Accounts Payable/Creditors Controller in their finance team, who will be responsible for the full accounts payable function, with a focus on managing foreign creditors. This role requires a strong understanding of import processes, duties, foreign payments, exchange control regulations, and the necessary supporting documentation. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and possess excellent communication skills. This is a permanent, full-time in-office role.
Key Responsibilities:
Foreign Creditor Management:
Process and reconcile invoices from international suppliers and vendors.
Manage foreign currency payments, ensuring accurate conversion and compliance with exchange control regulations.
Ensure timely payment of foreign creditors to maintain strong supplier relationships.
Handle all aspects of import documentation, including customs duties, VAT, and freight charges.
Maintain accurate records of all foreign transactions and supporting documentation.
Accounts Payable Processing:
Process and verify all invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
Reconcile supplier statements and resolve discrepancies.
Prepare and process payment runs, including electronic transfers and cheque payments.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date creditor records.
Respond to supplier inquiries and resolve payment issues promptly.
Import and Duty Management:
Understand and apply import regulations and customs procedures.
Calculate and process import duties and taxes accurately.
Ensure all import documentation is complete and compliant.
Exchange Control Compliance:
Adhere to all exchange control regulations and reporting requirements.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in exchange control legislation.
Financial Reporting:
Prepare and provide accurate and timely reports on accounts payable and creditor balances.
Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
Process Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in the accounts payable function.
Requirements
