Job description

Applications are invited for the above-mentioned position based at the Springs Production Plant. This person will report to the Unit Manager.

Purpose of the Position: Leading a production team, overseeing the smooth operation of machines and equipment, and achieving the production plan.

Key Performance Areas include, but are not limited to:
  1. Reducing unplanned downtime.
  2. Minimizing losses and write-offs.
  3. Improving OPI NONA.
  4. Limiting rework or non-conformance.
  5. Ensuring relevant process control to produce a product that meets quality specifications.
  6. Development and motivation of subordinates.
  7. Facilitating TPM processes and practices.
  8. Attending various meetings, such as Level 2 Safety, Multilevel Problem Solving, and Service Level Agreements.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Qualified Mechanical/Electrical artisan (Trade certificate).
  • NQF 5 Manufacturing Management certificate or Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (advantageous).
  • Ability to develop a clear vision for subordinates and involve team members in creating a shared vision.
  • Ability to create conditions that motivate followers to be productive, display initiative, and perform effectively.
  • 23 years of experience in a high-speed, high-tech packaging environment.
  • Effective coaching and development skills for subordinates.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Sound conflict management skills.
  • Ability to organize resources, delegate tasks, and facilitate performance management.
  • Ability to evaluate alternative courses of action considering all relevant criteria.
  • Ability to set controls, follow-up, and evaluate tasks.
  • Confidence and resilience to stay committed to tasks and achieve objectives.
