Paymentology Database Administrator Job Description

As a Database Administrator at Paymentology, you will be responsible for maintaining the integrity, security, and performance of our mission-critical databases to support our growth.

Responsibilities:
  1. Partner with our development team to design and optimize database schemas.
  2. Perform database administration tasks, including schema management, user access control, and performance tuning.
  3. Implement robust backup and recovery strategies to ensure data integrity and availability.
  4. Manage database security protocols, including user access controls and encryption measures.
  5. Monitor database performance proactively and troubleshoot issues using advanced tools.
  6. Provide on-call support for database emergencies and critical issues.
  7. Plan capacity to accommodate future growth and resource needs.
  8. Develop automated scripts for database maintenance and repetitive tasks.
  9. Manage database migrations, including upgrades, version migrations, and transitions to cloud services such as AWS.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, with at least 6 years focused on PostgreSQL and 1 year with MSSQL.
  • Proficiency in automation tools such as shell scripting, Terraform, Ansible, and GitHub.
  • Experience automating maintenance tasks, daily operations, and database refresh processes.
  • Experience managing cloud-based databases like AWS RDS, BigQuery, and Azure Postgres.
  • Skills in deploying, monitoring, and maintaining high-performance, scalable, and reliable databases in cloud environments.
  • Proven ability to architect and implement database migrations to cloud platforms.
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
Additional Information:

This role requires high availability and readiness to address critical incidents, including participation in an on-call schedule supporting 24/7 operations.
