Essence of the job :

The Field Mechanic inspects machines for preventative maintenance, diagnoses problems for repairs on breakdowns, and plans all relevant work in conjunction with site programs.

Qualification :

Red Seal Qualification Diesel Mechanic

Code 10 Licence.

Minimum Requirements :

• Minimum of 5 years post-red seal experience
• Huge advantage if the person holds experience working on Piling machines
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English language)
• Ability to read electrical and hydraulic diagrams
• Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and safe work procedures
• Understanding and application of mechanical principles
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including use, operation, repair, and maintenance
• Troubleshooting and identifying causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it
• Repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment (servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines and equipment)
• Monitoring gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure proper machine operation
• Determining the appropriate tools and equipment needed for jobs (Equipment selection)
• Operating vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment using direct physical activity
• Planning, organizing, prioritizing, and time management skills
• Piling experience is an advantage
