Job Summary

The role involves following the six steps of financial planning as a FAIS licensed financial adviser. The adviser must introduce themselves professionally, explain the services offered, conduct a Financial Needs Analysis (FNA) in areas such as Investment, Life Insurance, and Estate Planning, and make recommendations based on the FNA. Recommendations should align with the adviser’s accreditation categories and Absa-approved products that meet client needs. Upon client approval, the adviser implements the advice through Absa’s processes and conducts regular reviews to ensure continued suitability and compliance with licensing requirements.

Job Description

Accountability: Building and maintaining professional relationships

  • Participate in lead activities and meetings to identify business opportunities, leveraging Absa’s bancassurance structure.
  • Assess client needs using recommended tools, ensuring clients understand the value proposition.
  • Prepare and present tailored risk and investment recommendations, adhering to FAIS regulations.
  • Follow the client engagement process and provide feedback to management.
  • Network with stakeholders to promote the adviser’s value proposition.

Accountability: Achieving sales and growth targets

  • Plan activities and identify clients to approach, using provided leads and prospecting.
  • Utilize Absa’s Financial Needs Analysis tool to assess client needs comprehensively.
  • Obtain client consent and gather necessary documentation.
  • Recommend suitable products, generate proposals, and process applications.
  • Review client portfolios annually and maintain relationships.
  • Report on performance metrics and seek new business opportunities.

Accountability: Managing own commissions

  • Accurately record policy information and verify commission statements monthly.
  • Follow up on premiums and lapses, and manage suspense accounts.

Accountability: Practice management

  • Ensure staff understand their roles, receive training, and are mentored.
  • Participate in performance discussions and corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain compliance records and complete required exams.
  • Remain fit and proper for FAIS roles and engage in business development activities.

Accountability: Personal development

  • Attend training for accreditation and FAIS compliance, and maintain required credits and status.

Education

Bachelor’s Degrees and Advanced Diplomas in Accounting, or a National Senior Certificate/Matric (Grade 12).
