Senior Data Science Consultant - Cape Town - Remote

Hire Resolve's client is seeking a Senior Data Science Consultant to join their team in Cape Town (Remote). The ideal candidate should have strong data science and consulting expertise to contribute to our dynamic Data Science team.

Role and Responsibilities:

You will report directly to the Head of Data Science and be responsible for designing and leading data science projects, providing strategic insights and recommendations to clients through data analytics and alternative data.

The candidate should possess strategic thinking, business acumen, and advanced data analytics skills to develop impactful solutions and help clients achieve their objectives.

You will help clients maximize value from data collaborations and ensure the platform stays competitive by differentiating built-in intelligence, analytical tools, and data products.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strategic Analysis: Support sales and consulting teams with analysis of client businesses, industries, and market trends to identify opportunities and challenges.

2. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with clients and teams to develop strategic plans based on data insights, recommending growth, cost optimization, and risk management strategies using alternative data.

3. Client Engagement: Build strong client relationships by understanding their needs, communicating findings clearly, and delivering high-quality solutions. Identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling data products.

4. Data Science Projects: Define, scope, lead, and supervise data science projects, ensuring timely delivery and regular updates.

5. Data Collection & Analysis: Gather, clean, and analyze large datasets to derive insights using statistical and machine learning techniques.

6. Modeling & Forecasting: Develop predictive models and algorithms, evaluate and refine them as needed.

7. Performance Measurement: Establish KPIs, develop measurement frameworks, and report on initiative effectiveness.

8. Thought Leadership: Stay updated on industry trends and share insights internally and externally.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related; postgraduate preferred.

• At least 2 years in strategic or management consulting focused on data-driven decision-making.

• Over 5 years in a senior data science role, leading projects and supervising teams.

• Azure Data Scientist certification or similar is advantageous.

• Experience with pricing/risk models in banking or insurance is a plus.

• Proficiency in Python, SQL, and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI).

• Strong knowledge of statistical methods, machine learning, and data mining.

• Experience with Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Machine Learning, PySpark, and distributed computing.

• Knowledge of Delta Lake, Databricks, and modern data lakehouse technologies is a strong advantage.

• Experience designing Synapse Pipelines with SQL, Spark, API integrations, and automation flows.
