• Title: Principal Product Engineer - HOKA Footwear
• Reports to: Director, Product Engineering
• Location: Portland, OR (Hybrid)

The Role

A Principal Product Engineer is responsible for the successful outcome of projects within Product Engineering related to high-performance footwear. This includes planning, implementation, and ensuring project objectives are met in terms of cost, quality, scope, and risk until product launch.

This role involves a high level of autonomy, liaison with HQ and Asia stakeholders, and making important decisions to create, improve, and optimize engineering processes. The engineer contributes to knowledge transfer and works under general supervision.

Your Impact

• Lead and manage complex projects from design to final production, ensuring quality and functionality.
• Collaborate with Asia Development, Engineering, and Commercialization teams to enhance quality, aesthetics, and performance.
• Analyze technical drawings, lab test results, and components to resolve fit, aesthetics, and performance issues.
• Define and implement best practices for last development, patterns, and tooling.
• Mentor and coach engineers for technical and professional growth.

Who You Are

• A curious, critical thinker, self-starter, results-driven, with 10+ years' experience in footwear engineering.
• Deep understanding of footwear manufacturing processes, materials, and effects.
• Expertise in Chemical Engineering, Tooling Engineering, and Pattern Engineering.
• Knowledge of foams, injection molding, and footwear constructions.
• Proficient in 3D CAD, able to read 2D drawings, and capable of training team members.
