We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Health Safety and Environmental (HSE) Officer to join our team

The Role:

The Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive HSE and Governance frameworks within Ctrack.

This role must ensure compliance with all relevant South African legislation, promote a strong safety culture, minimize environmental impact, and support sound governance practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Health & Safety
    • Develop, implement, and maintain the company's Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and other relevant regulations.
    • Ensure all required legal appointments relevant to this company are done and renewed as necessary.
    • Conduct regular risk assessments, hazard identification, and implement control measures to mitigate risks.
    • Plan, conduct, and document regular OSH inspections, audits, and workplace assessments.
    • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions.
    • Develop and deliver HSE training programs and awareness campaigns.
    • Monitor and report on HSE performance, including KPIs and incident statistics.
    • Maintain accurate HSE records and documentation.
    • Organize the election and appointment of H & S committee members.
    • Liaise with relevant regulatory authorities, e.g., Department of Labour.
    • Ensure emergency preparedness plans are in place and tested.
    • Ensure fire protection systems and emergency exits are functional.
    • Promote environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives.
    • Report on environmental performance and compliance.
    • Liaise with authorities and ensure timely environmental reporting.
  2. Governance
    • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring corporate governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
    • Support compliance with governance regulations, legislation, and best practices.
    • Participate in internal audits related to governance, compliance, and HSE.
    • Assist in ethics and compliance training programs.
    • Maintain governance documentation and records.
    • Manage stakeholder relationships related to HSE and Governance.
    • Maintain statistics for board meetings on incidents, employee health, and disability data.
    • Analyze OHS statistics and prepare quarterly reports with recommendations.
  3. General
    • Stay updated on changes in HSE and Governance legislation and best practices.
    • Collaborate with departments to integrate HSE and Governance principles into operations.
    • Prepare and present performance reports.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, or related field.
  • OHSAS training.
  • 3-5 years of OHS experience in a similar environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO (OHS) and ISO (Environmental Management) preferred.
  • Strong understanding of South African SHE legislation.
  • Experience with incident investigations and root cause analysis.
