Package :

R 1 001 349.00 (per annum) (all-inclusive salary package)

Requirements :
  • MBChB degree or equivalent qualification that allows registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner (Independent Medical Practitioner).
  • Valid registration with Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an independent Medical Practitioner.
  • Current valid HPCSA registration.
  • FC (ORL) primaries, Advanced trauma life support (ATLS), Basic Surgical Skills (BSS), and experience in Otorhinolaryngology for 1 year or in General Surgery (including other surgical departments) and Intensive Care Unit will be advantageous.
Duties :
  • Provide clinical services to ENT patients at Dr. George Mukhari Academic Hospital (DGMAH) and referring hospitals, including interviewing, investigating, diagnosing, and overseeing patient treatment.
  • Manage patient-related administrative duties, community liaison, and communication services.
  • Provide continuous emergency cover as per roster (after hours, weekends, public holidays).
  • Improve quality and clinical care of ENT patients, reduce litigation through good clinical ethos, ensure proper record keeping, and adhere to National Core Standards.
  • Participate in all departmental academic activities: ward rounds, workshops, congresses, journal clubs, case presentations, lectures, mortality and morbidity meetings, research, clinical audits, and report writing.
  • Complete medico-legal documents promptly and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Supervise and teach junior doctors, undergraduate students, and allied health care workers.

  • Positions are joint appointments with the Gauteng Department of Health and academic institutions: University of Witwatersrand, University of Pretoria, and Sefako Makgatho University.
