About the Role

As a Backend Engineer, you will design, implement, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing backend systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build a resilient, serverless microservices architecture that integrates diverse data sources and services. You will own your areas, ensuring quality, stability, and performance, and support the evolution of our cloud infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

1. Architecture & Development: Design and implement serverless, microservices-based architecture on AWS; build secure, scalable backend services and APIs using Node.js and TypeScript; integrate data sources like PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, S3 via GraphQL and REST APIs; contribute throughout the development lifecycle.
2. Collaboration & Agile Practices: Work with frontend, product, QA, UX teams in grooming, planning, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing; translate business needs into technical specs; participate in daily standups and sprint planning.
3. Cloud & DevOps: Use AWS services (Lambda, ECS, RDS, S3, IAM); support CI/CD pipelines with Terraform, Bitbucket Pipelines, or GitHub Actions; monitor system health and troubleshoot incidents.
4. Ownership & Learning: Take ownership of systems and code; identify opportunities for improvements; stay updated with industry trends; share knowledge to foster engineering excellence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of backend experience, preferably in SaaS or complex digital environments.
• Proficiency in Node.js and TypeScript.
• Hands-on AWS experience (Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, S3, IAM, ECS).
• Strong knowledge of SQL (PostgreSQL preferred), data modeling, and API development (REST/GraphQL).
• Experience with testing frameworks like Jest, CI/CD, version control, and microservice architecture.
• Excellent communication skills in English and experience working in Agile teams.
